Council of Education: Witwatersrand - Whitmore Richards Bursaries

About the Bursary

This bursary is intended to provide some financial assistance to in-service educators who are South African citizens, and who wish to pursue postgraduate studies in education at the Wits School of Education, University of the Witwatersrand.

Successful applicants will be notified by email. Successful applicants' bursaries will be paid directly to the institution where they are registered. If you have paid your fees, please submit a financial statement from your university to Dr. Goldschagg who will write a letter authorizing a refund from your university. The Council needs to guard against multiple sources of funding, which happens when recipient's student fee accounts go into credit at the expense of students who have inadequate funding. The Council reserves the right to specify conditions under which Whitmore Richards bursary support can be suspended or refunded back to the Council.

There is no contractual obligation between students and the Council. However, the Council provides funding with the aim of assisting to improve the quality of education in Gauteng. The Council expresses the wish that successful applicants continue in their contribution to education in Gauteng.
